About
Founded in 2023, North Sea Energy Island is a public headquartered in Denmark specializing in Wind.
The North Sea Energy Island is an innovative infrastructure project designed to collect and distribute green power from surrounding offshore wind farms to Denmark and neighboring European countries. Located in the North Sea with exceptionally favorable wind conditions and shallow depths, the island serves as a central hub connecting approximately 10 offshore wind farms with capacity expanding from initial 3 GW to 10 GW. The project represents a paradigm shift in Denmark's green transformation, enabling efficient distribution of renewable energy across Europe while supporting climate goals and preserving marine biodiversity. The island is designed with capacity for future technologies including green hydrogen, synthetic fuels for aviation and maritime transport, and digital infrastructure with fiber networks for data transmission. Total investment estimated at DKK 210 billion, with the island itself costing approximately DKK 10 billion. The consortium includes leading offshore construction partners: Per Aarsleff, Bouygues Travaux Publics, and Van Oord. The project aligns with Denmark's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
