About

Oceanwindone is a renewable energy company specializing in Wind.

Ocean Wind 1 was an offshore wind farm project located 15 miles off the coast of southern New Jersey, developed by Ørsted. The project included offshore wind turbines connected to the electrical grid via submarine transmission cables, with onshore substations planned at Peck Bay (former B.L. England power plant site in Upper Township) and Lanoka (near former Oyster Creek nuclear plant in Lacey Township). The project underwent extensive environmental studies, permitting across five levels (federal, regional, state, county, and local), and community engagement with 30+ open houses. Ørsted employed noise abatement technologies, marine observer protocols, and maintained coordination with commercial and recreational fishing industries. Onshore construction was scheduled to begin fall 2023. In October 2023, Ørsted announced cessation of development for both Ocean Wind 1 and Ocean Wind 2 projects.
