About
Founded in 2007, Parc éolien en mer de Saint-Nazaire is a renewable energy company headquartered in Saint-Nazaire, France specializing in Wind.
The Saint-Nazaire offshore wind park is France's first operational offshore wind farm, consisting of 80 turbines with a total installed capacity of 480 MW. Located off the coast of Saint-Nazaire in the Atlantic, the project was developed through extensive environmental studies beginning in 2007, with state tender in 2011 and authorizations obtained in 2016. The park became operational in November 2022. The turbines are spaced one kilometer apart and aligned to create navigation corridors, allowing continued fishing activity within the park. A maintenance base at La Turballe port supports operations and has created approximately 100 permanent jobs. The project generates revenue through a maritime wind tax, with 50% distributed to coastal municipalities, 35% to professional fishing committees, and 10% to sustainable development projects in maritime sectors. The park supplies approximately 20% of the region's electricity consumption.
