About
Founded in 2007, Parc éolien en mer du Calvados is a government headquartered in Calvados, France specializing in Wind.
The Calvados offshore wind farm is a major French offshore wind energy project consisting of 64 Siemens Gamesa turbines with a total installed capacity of 450 MW. Located more than 10 km off the Normandy coast, the project is designed to supply the equivalent of annual domestic electricity consumption for over 630,000 people, representing more than 90% of Calvados inhabitants. The project involves construction of an offshore electrical substation, inter-turbine cable systems, and submarine power transmission lines to the grid connection point at Ranville. A maintenance base is established at the Port of Ouistreham. The project is part of France's strategic objective to install at least 40 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2025. Installation is planned for summer 2027, with full operational status anticipated by winter 2027. The project includes decommissioning provisions and environmental protections, with individual turbines named after vessels from the 1944 Normandy landings.
