PEDvolution is a European research initiative funded under Horizon Europe (GA No. 101138472) that runs from January 2024 to December 2026. The project develops and demonstrates seven interoperable solutions to support the evolution of Positive Energy Districts (PEDs)—urban areas that produce at least as much energy annually as they consume. The solutions include: PED Design and Planning Toolset, Dynamic Decision Support Guideline, PED Energy Manager, Data Exchange and Interoperability Platform, PED Business Models Innovation Tool, Social Innovation Tool, and PED Readiness Assessment framework. The project leverages six real-life demonstration sites across Europe (in Germany, Slovenia, and Switzerland) as co-development and validation environments, addressing the built environment's critical role in Europe's transition to climate neutrality by 2050.
