Prometheus Fuels

HydrogenEnergy Storage

About

Prometheus Fuels is a renewable energy company specializing in Hydrogen, Energy Storage.

Prometheus Fuels has developed a proprietary electrochemical process that converts carbonate salts in water and electricity into energy-dense liquid hydrocarbon fuels. The technology captures CO2 from the air or power generation exhaust into water as carbonate, which can be stored indefinitely. When renewable energy is available, the carbonate is converted into fuel. This asynchronous carbon capture and fuel production enables zero-emission energy storage without requiring high pressure, high temperature, or hydrogen inputs—dramatically reducing capital and operating costs compared to Fischer-Tropsch processes. The company's Ultra Long Duration Energy Storage (ULDES) and Fuel Forge systems are designed to operate with intermittent renewable energy, requiring no grid connection. They store thousands of hours of energy and enable 100% renewable power for data centers and grids, with capital costs under $5/kWh. The fuels are fully circular: when used to generate power, carbon and water are recaptured and stored again as carbonate salts.
