Provence Grand Large is France's first offshore floating wind farm, developed and operated by EDF power solutions. Located 17 km off the Provence coast, the project consists of three floating wind turbines installed in water depths exceeding 100 meters. The turbines are anchored using a catenary mooring system and connected via subsea cables to the public electricity grid. The project emphasizes environmental compatibility, including biodiversity studies and coordination with local fishing and maritime communities. Installation occurred over approximately three years and the farm is open to public visits via boat tours to educate visitors about renewable energy and offshore wind operations.
