RE-INVEST is an innovative research-based endeavor focused on overcoming traditional sectoral silos in energy research and policy. The project combines Aarhus University's advanced network analysis tools with EnergyPLAN modeling at Aalborg University to develop coherent pathways toward a fully renewable European energy system by 2050. It analyzes cross-sectoral energy integration including wind power, photovoltaics, solar thermal, energy storage, district heating systems, and international interconnections. The project aims to identify robust long-term investments that reduce Europe's reliance on fossil fuels while meeting the EU's target of 80% greenhouse gas emissions reduction by 2050.
