RE-SKIN (Renewable and Environmentally Sustainable Kit for building INtegration) is a European Union-funded research project coordinated by Politecnico di Milano. The project develops an advanced, multifunctional retrofit system designed to transform energy-intensive buildings into modern, efficient, and sustainable structures. The system integrates renewable energy sources, sustainable materials, information and communication technologies, and circular economy principles. It targets the European building sector's decarbonization by 2050, aiming to double annual renovation rates by 2030 while ensuring indoor comfort and resilience. The consortium comprises 21 organizations from 9 European countries, with expertise in engineering, architecture, construction, and advanced technologies. Demonstration projects include retrofitting residential schools and public buildings across Europe.
