About
Founded in 2020, Res-skill is a ngo specializing in Solar, Wind.
Res-skill is a European vocational education and training (VET) initiative addressing the labor market transition resulting from EU27 decarbonization. The project targets coal workers facing job losses due to coal phase-out and redirects them toward renewable energy employment through tailored reskilling programs. The initiative develops transition profiles matching coal workers' existing skills to compatible roles in solar photovoltaic installation and maintenance, and wind turbine service. Key activities include creating assessment tools to identify learning pathways, developing specialized training curricula, piloting a Joint Competence Centre in Bulgaria with one-month intensive courses, and producing guidelines for VET providers and employers. The project forecasts that renewed energy sector job growth across EU27 (304,000 new positions annually through 2030, 60% in wind and 24% in solar) could absorb up to 90% of displaced coal workers in partnership countries. Partnership countries span Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Austria, Greece, and Poland.
