Founded in 2005, Rural Electrification Agency is a government headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria specializing in Solar, Hydro, Biomass.

The Rural Electrification Agency is a Federal Government implementing agency under the Federal Ministry of Power, established under the Electric Power Sector Reform Act 2005 and reaffirmed by the Electricity Act 2023. It is mandated to electrify unserved and underserved communities in Nigeria using sustainable and renewable energy solutions. The agency implements multiple programs including the Rural Electrification Fund, Nigeria Electrification Project, Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-up, National Public Sector Solarization Initiative, Solar Power Naija, and various sectoral initiatives (Energizing Education, Energizing Economies, Energizing Agriculture, e-HEART). It also operates the Research and Innovation Hub and manages community engagement through Rural Electricity Users Cooperative Societies. The agency creates an enabling environment for private sector participation in rural electrification through feasibility assessments, energy audits, and stakeholder engagement.
