SCARABEUS is a renewable energy company specializing in Solar, Energy Storage.
The SCARABEUS project aims to demonstrate the application of supercritical CO2 blends to CSP (Concentrated Solar Power) plants. The project targets a 30% reduction in CAPEX and 35% reduction in OPEX compared to state-of-the-art steam cycles, with the potential to achieve a levelized cost of electricity lower than 96 €/MWh, approximately 30% lower than currently possible. The project will test innovative fluids and newly developed heat exchangers at a relevant scale for 300 hours in a CSP-like operating environment. The consortium organizes webinar series covering CSP plant modelling, simulation, thermal energy storage systems, life cycle analysis, and natural capital valuation.
