The company combines pumped hydro and compressed air storage technologies in modular units that can be adapted to different power and energy requirements. Their system features a passive, efficient heat exchanger, composite air tanks, and a 30-year lifespan with recyclable components. The technology targets wind and solar PV producers, utilities, trading companies, and renewable energy integrators. Shifted Energy has built compression test benches, manufactured and tested prototype heat exchangers, and achieved initial funding of 1 million euros.
