About
Skyclean-scale-up is a renewable energy company headquartered in Denmark specializing in Biomass, Biogas.
SkyClean Scale-up is a collaborative project maturing pyrolysis technology for carbon sequestration in agriculture. The project demonstrates a 20 MW industrial pyrolysis plant in Vrå, Denmark, processing 40,000 tons of biogas residual plant fibers annually to produce 14,000 tons of biochar and green gas. Key objectives include documenting CO2e sequestration, evaluating environmental effects, developing biochar supply chains, and establishing handling, packaging, and distribution standards for agricultural applications. The biochar production corresponds to approximately 23,000 tons of CO2 removed from the atmosphere. Research partners include Aarhus University, University of Copenhagen, Roskilde University, DTU, and industry partners. Estimated to reduce Danish greenhouse gas emissions by at least 1.6 million tonnes CO2e per year by 2030 through displacement of fossil fuels.
