Founded in 2016, SolarLab is a ngo headquartered in Netherlands with approximately 50-200 employees specializing in Solar.

SolarLab is the Netherlands' primary network of university and research institute groups working on solar photovoltaics. Founded in 2016, it coordinates research across six main hubs (AMOLF, RUG, TNO, TUD, TUE, UT) plus satellite groups. The consortium focuses on three key research areas: solar cell design, solar energy materials, and integration of solar cells into buildings and infrastructure. Research areas include tandem solar cells with increased efficiency, lightweight sustainable panels, improved contact layers, halide perovskites, AI-assisted material discovery, and enhanced long-term stability. SolarLab aims to develop technologies that reduce land use requirements and enable aesthetic solar integration while contributing to the Dutch energy transition.
