The company is backed by Combigas Group, a long-established energy company with over 40 years of experience operating across the energy value chain, including petroleum trading, fuel stations, energy-efficiency solutions, cogeneration systems, and renewable energy services. Sphera Energy has achieved 480 MW of permitted capacity and is active in the Italian and German energy storage markets. The company is a member of Terna's industry association, representing over 70% of the Italian national electricity market.
