Spirit-Heat

Energy Storage

About

Spirit-Heat is a renewable energy company specializing in Energy Storage.

Spirit-Heat is an EU-funded Horizon Europe project that addresses the deployment of high-temperature heat pumps (HTHPs) in energy-intensive industrial processes. The project focuses on demonstrating three full-scale heat pump technologies integrated at different process sites in the paper, food, and beverage industries, with sink temperatures between 135°C and 160°C. The consortium includes five knowledge providers, four technology suppliers, three end-users, and supporting organizations. Demonstrations are taking place at Tiense Suiker (sugar production in Belgium using GEA technology), Stella Polaris (prawn processing in Norway using Mayekawa technology), and Smurfit Kappa (paper production in Czech Republic using Spilling steam compressor technology). The project aims to advance the technology readiness level of cost-competitive industrial heat pumps, reduce energy consumption in manufacturing, and enable industrial electrification through waste heat recovery and upgrading.
