Sunne-energie is a cooperative founded in July 2021 by the sustainability working group to stimulate and collectively develop sustainable energy initiatives. Operating as a Coöperatie U.A. (cooperative with limited liability), the organization focuses on rooftop solar projects rather than ground-mounted installations. The cooperative acquires rooftops from industrial, agricultural, commercial, and residential property owners and installs solar panels without requiring owner investment. Members and property owners share in the benefits through revenue from energy production. The cooperative handles all financing, insurance, and panel removal/recycling at end-of-life. Their first project, completed in 2024, installed 1,280 solar panels at Boomkwekerij Slangenbeek, generating sufficient clean energy for approximately 160 households.
