Sunrey is a research initiative focused on developing enhanced perovskite photovoltaic (PV) technology. The project addresses key challenges in perovskite solar cells including material stability, degradation mechanisms, and environmental sustainability. Core activities include developing advanced characterization and modeling methods using electrical impedance spectroscopy, creating novel 2D/3D tin-based perovskites, optimizing electron and hole-transport layers, and implementing scalable low-temperature solution-based manufacturing processes. The initiative emphasizes lead-free alternatives, improved encapsulation techniques, and comprehensive life cycle assessment to demonstrate lower environmental impact compared to silicon-based PV. Testing encompasses laboratory-scale evaluation, outdoor performance assessment, and compliance with ISOS perovskite consensus protocols. The project is supported by the European Union's Horizon Europe research program (grant agreement No 101084422).
