SUPERNOVA is a collaborative Horizon Europe-funded initiative involving 15 European partners focused on establishing quality and high-performance standards for solar photovoltaic projects. The project develops advanced software solutions and digital platforms for planning, design, and operation of solar PV systems, leveraging artificial intelligence, sensors, and big data analytics. Key objectives include enhancing operational efficiency through robotic solutions and automated data collection, improving plant design for better performance and reliability, and promoting circular economy principles through component reuse. The project analyses operational data from over 11 GW of solar installations to identify inefficiencies and test innovative solutions, with targets including 90% performance index, 98% availability, and 10% reduction in levelised cost of energy.
