Syncraft is an Austrian greentech company founded in 2009 as a spinoff from MCI Innsbruck. The company specializes in developing and building patented backward gasification power plants (Rückwärtskraftwerke) that convert regional forest residue wood chips into renewable energy and green carbon. The proprietary fluidized bed gasification technology achieves electrical efficiency of 30% and total fuel utilization of 92%, with over 90% overall efficiency including advanced exhaust condensation technology. Beyond electricity and heat generation, their plants produce biochar (green carbon) that is sequestered in permanent carbon sinks, enabling negative emissions and CO2 certificates. Over 40 plants have been deployed globally across Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Germany, and Japan. Notable installations include the world's largest negative emissions plant in Frauenfeld, Switzerland (4 MW capacity, removing 12,000 tonnes CO2 annually), and Austria's largest plant in Perg (1 MW electrical, 1.54 MW thermal). Services include plant design, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance, financing support, feedstock procurement, and end-product distribution. The company relocated to a new 4,800 m² facility in 2024 designed for 100+ employees using sustainable construction methods and powered by their own technology.
