About

Founded in 2020, Synikia is a ngo headquartered in Trondheim, Norway specializing in Solar, Energy Storage, Other.

Synikia is an EU-funded research and innovation project under Horizon 2020 (grant agreement No. 869918) aimed at increasing the proportion of sustainable neighbourhoods with surplus renewable energy across Europe. The project develops and demonstrates four real-life Sustainable Plus Energy Neighbourhood pilots tailored to different climatic contexts: Netherlands (marine climate), Spain (Mediterranean), Austria (continental), and Norway (alpine). Each neighbourhood achieves over 100% energy savings, 90% renewable energy generation, 100% greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and 10% lifecycle cost reduction compared to nearly zero-energy buildings (NZEB). The concept integrates novel neighbourhood-scale technologies, building energy efficiency, architectural quality, housing affordability, and citizen engagement. Synikia operates across three levels: building level, neighbourhood level, and European level policy framework.
