Team SOLID

About

Founded in 2016, Team SOLID is a ngo headquartered in Eindhoven, Netherlands with approximately 10-50 employees specializing in Hydrogen, Energy Storage.

Team SOLID is a student-led research and development organization from Eindhoven University of Technology dedicated to advancing iron-based hydrogen storage technology. The team has developed a proof-of-concept system called the Steam Iron Reactor 1 (SIR1), capable of storing and releasing one kilogram of hydrogen through the steam iron process. This process uses steam reacting with iron to produce hydrogen and rust, which can be regenerated through sustainable methods. The technology addresses critical challenges in hydrogen storage by offering safe, atmospheric-pressure storage without high pressure or cryogenic requirements. The team is developing the IRHYS ecosystem to support large-scale deployment and commercialization of this technology.
