About
TerraWatt is a private headquartered in Paris, France specializing in Biogas, Biomass.
TerraWatt is a French cleantech company focused on circular bioeconomy solutions. The company processes green waste, agricultural residues, and forest biomass through a proprietary thermochemical and biotechnological process. The technology combines pyrolysis (heating biomass at high temperature in oxygen-free conditions) with biological methanation (converting syngas to biogas using methanogenic bacteria). This produces two key outputs: biochar for soil amendment and carbon sequestration, and biomethane as a renewable gas substitute for natural gas. The biochar improves soil fertility, water retention, and microbial activity while sequestering carbon for centuries. The biomethane can be injected into gas networks, used for cogeneration, or converted to bioCNG/LNG for transport. TerraWatt is funded by the European Union's HORIZON programme and operates pilot facilities at different technology readiness levels (TRL 3-4 and TRL 5-6).
