The Solar Movement is a groundbreaking design-driven initiative that merges technology, sustainability, and craftsmanship to integrate solar energy seamlessly into daily life. Founded by visionary solar designers Marjan van Aubel and Pauline van Dongen in collaboration with strategist Pallas Agterberg, the movement operates at the intersection of design, art, and renewable energy innovation. The initiative challenges the dominant technical approach to solar energy by emphasizing cultural aspects, aesthetic integration, and inclusivity. Core principles include circular sustainability, local knowledge integration, collaborative design, and transforming consumers into prosumers. The movement also organizes The Solar Biennale, a pioneering biennial event celebrating solar energy's transformative potential through design and innovation, with editions held in Rotterdam (2022) and Lausanne (2025).
