TWIN-PEAKS is a Horizon 2020 twinning project establishing research and innovation collaboration between Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI), Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), Technical University of Munich (TUM), Chalmers University of Technology (CTH), and WIP. The project aims to raise scientific excellence and international reputation in advanced waste gasification, waste-to-energy (WtE), and Power-to-X technologies. Key objectives include developing joint research strategies, pooling research infrastructure, transferring scientific knowledge on WtE, building academic and non-academic networks, and creating a WtE association in Lithuania. The project focuses on thermochemical conversion pathways including plasma gasification, synthetic biofuel production from CO2 and hydrogen, and sustainable waste management alternatives to direct incineration. Activities include international summer schools, scientific workshops, staff exchange, industry outreach, and capacity building for researchers in renewable energy and advanced gasification solutions.
