Founded in 2016, UpGrade Ohio is a ngo headquartered in Athens, United States specializing in Solar, Geothermal, Biomass.

UpGrade Ohio was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2016, evolving from a special project of the Southeast Ohio Public Energy Council. The organization educates, promotes, and facilitates connections around local resources for reduced energy use and greater access to renewable energy sources. Operating in eight southeast Ohio counties, UpGrade Ohio focuses on community-based energy efficiency initiatives, renewable energy development, and clean transportation advocacy. The organization works with local governments, rural farm producers, and small businesses to expand into solar, biomethane, and geothermal technologies. Originally founded to compete in the Georgetown University Energy Prize, the organization has expanded its efforts to support a just transition to a renewable energy economy in a region historically dependent on traditional energy production.
