Wedistrict is a Horizon 2020-funded research and innovation project that develops and demonstrates innovative solutions for fossil-free district heating and cooling (DHC) systems. The project integrates multiple renewable energy sources, waste heat recovery technologies, and advanced digitalization platforms across demonstration sites in different European climate zones. Key innovations include renewable air-cooling units, fuel cell integration with biogas, data centre waste heat recovery, and an Advanced Digitalisation (AD) platform for real-time monitoring and optimization of DHC systems. The project brings together industry innovators from 9 European countries to showcase the technical and economic viability of 100% renewable DHC solutions.
