Windenergie op Isselt is a wind energy development project spanning the industrial terrain at the border of Amersfoort and Soest in the Netherlands. The project comprises two modern wind turbines of approximately 6MW capacity each, designed to generate sustainable electricity for 12,000 to 16,000 households and businesses in the region. The initiative emerged from a citizen-driven effort (Soesterwijkwiek) and was formalized through a 2024 municipal tender won by renewable factory. The project is jointly developed and operated through W-Isselt B.V., a partnership between renewable factory (from Schoonhoven) and the local energy cooperative Samen Energie Amersfoort, ensuring 50% local ownership and equitable benefit-sharing with residents. The development includes extensive environmental and impact assessments, with a comprehensive environmental covenant signed on 26 January 2026 covering noise, shadow flicker, lighting, ecology, safety, and community benefits. The turbines are designed to have a lifespan of approximately 25 years and can supply power to the region with emphasis on local energy production and independence from external sources.
