About

Founded in 2014, Windpark Egchelse Heide is a co-op headquartered in Peel en Maas, Netherlands specializing in Wind.

Windpark Egchelse Heide is a citizen energy cooperative established in April 2014 with the mission to make Peel en Maas sustainable and achieve energy neutrality by 2050. The project originated from an initiative by dairy farmers Marc Hubers, Peter Bongers, and Peter Rooijakkers. The wind park comprises five turbines capable of producing approximately 75% of the municipality's household electricity consumption. The cooperative operates as part of OM nieuwe energie and supplies 100% green locally-generated energy to members. Beyond energy generation, the project funds community initiatives through the Windparkfonds, supports retrofitting homes within 1,000 meters of the turbines to net-zero standard, and provides financial support for regional sustainability projects including cultural events, sports facilities, and energy efficiency initiatives.
