About
Founded in 2016, Windpark Nijmegen-Betuwe is a co-op headquartered in Wijchen, Netherlands with approximately 10-50 employees specializing in Wind, Solar.
Windpark Nijmegen-Betuwe is a citizen-initiated renewable energy project located along the A15 highway near Nijmegen. Established as a cooperative effort by over 1,000 local residents, the wind park features four Lagerwey L100-2.5 MW turbines commissioned in December 2016. The project was completed in under four years with approximately €2 million raised from community members and support from PPM Oost (Gelderland province investment company). In 2021, Zonnepark de Grift, a companion solar installation with 11,000+ panels, was added beneath the turbines. Together, these facilities generate clean energy for approximately 8,500 households annually and contribute to Nijmegen's goal of achieving energy neutrality by 2045. The cooperative is managed by elected members who participate in project decisions.
