Windpark Oostermoer Exploitatie B.V. is a wind energy cooperative established by agricultural families from the Veenkoloniën region of Drenthe. The company operates 16 wind turbines in the municipality of Aa en Hunze as part of the larger Windpark De Drentse Monden en Oostermoer project, which comprises 45 turbines total. The cooperative structure ensures revenues benefit the local region. In February 2018, the Council of State upheld the project approval. The wind turbines are positioned in two linear arrangements: nine turbines near Nieuwediep along the Semslinie and seven turbines near Gasselternijveenschemond above Kruit forest. Construction phase preparations began in 2020. The project is developed in partnership with Raedthuys Windenergie and Duurzame Energieproductie Exloërmond. Windunie, a wind energy cooperative and wind park developer, provides support for spatial planning, permitting, grid connection, financing, and community engagement.
