About
Founded in 2009, Windscanner is a ngo headquartered in Roskilde, Denmark specializing in Wind.
Windscanner is a pan-European research infrastructure established to advance wind energy research through remote sensing technologies. It operates as a distributed network of research nodes across Europe, coordinated by DTU Wind Energy in Denmark. The facility provides portable, three-dimensional wind vector measurement systems using laser-based lidar instruments. Originally developed as WindScanner.dk at national level in Denmark and Germany, it was expanded into a European-wide collaborative initiative under the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) Joint Programme on Wind Energy. The infrastructure supports scientific research, technology development, and innovation for the wind sector, including offshore wind resource assessment and grid integration studies.
