About

Founded in 2020, ZeroKyst is a government headquartered in Lofoten, Norway specializing in Hydrogen, Energy Storage.

ZeroKyst is a comprehensive research and demonstration project funded by Norges Forskningsråd (Norwegian Research Council) focused on decarbonizing the Norwegian fisheries and aquaculture industry. The project develops hybrid zero-emission powertrains combining battery and fuel-cell technology, retrofits 10 fishing and aquaculture vessels, builds shore power and charging infrastructure (including a facility at Ramberg in Lofoten opened in April 2024), and creates flexible hydrogen production, distribution, and refueling solutions. The consortium spans the complete value chain, including powertrain developers, shipbuilders, shipyards, operators, energy and infrastructure providers, municipalities, research institutes, and universities. The project targets 50% emissions reduction from maritime fisheries by 2030.
