Zonnepark Noordermeerdijk is a major solar installation located along the Noordermeerdijk in Noordoostpolder, the Netherlands, positioned between existing wind turbines. The project features approximately 161,000 solar panels with a capacity of roughly 98 megawatt-peak (MWp), generating an estimated 93 million kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity annually—sufficient to supply approximately 37,500 households. The initiative was developed collaboratively between HVC (an energy and waste management company) and 11 local farmers whose fragmented landholdings were better suited for renewable energy than agriculture. Local residents are offered investment opportunities through bonds, with direct neighbors receiving priority access. The project has achieved financial close and obtained municipal permit. The solar panels are designed to generate at least nine times more energy than the manufacturing process required, with a minimum operational life of 20 years.
