Coöperatie Zon op Ockhuizen U.A. is a local cooperative established in September 2023 by volunteers from Haarzuilens and Vleuten. The cooperative is developing, building, and operating the Zonneveld Ockhuizen (OcK-Zon), a approximately 35-hectare solar field between Haarzuilens and the A2 highway in Utrecht. The project integrates renewable energy generation with nature conservation and recreation. The cooperative holds a 20% stake in OcK-Zon BV, with the potential to increase to 30% after construction completion. Members purchase participations to invest in the project and gain voting rights in the cooperative's general assembly, with each member holding one vote regardless of the number of participations held. The project received environmental approval from the municipality of Utrecht in September 2024 for 34 years of operation, with 30 years of active solar energy production. It has been designated as a nature-inclusive solar park with landscape integration benefits, receiving SDE subsidy of €66.00/MWh for 15 years.
