LIGAL is a non-profit interprofessional association, recognised as being of public utility, that runs a milk analysis laboratory in Galicia, Spain. Its governing bodies are balanced between dairy industry representatives (through the Federación Nacional de Industrias Lácteas) and milk producers (through agricultural organisations and cooperative associations). Founded in 1989, it has provided services to the dairy sector since 1990. Services include raw cow milk instrumental analysis, analysis of milk and dairy products, animal feed analysis, water analysis, animal health statistics, sample collection and transport, and reference samples and interlaboratory comparison tests. The laboratory is located at the Centro de Investigaciones Agrarias de Mabegondo.
