SimHerd A/S is a Danish company that develops and licenses decision-support software for dairy cattle herds. Its models simulate individual cows and whole herds over 10 years to show the economic and production effects of management changes, such as breeding, reproduction, feeding, health and housing. The company was spun out of research at Aarhus University, where the SimHerd model was first developed, and has offered it to farm advisors, veterinarians and farmers since 2010. Its SimHerd Flex product provides a condensed calculator that suppliers to dairy farms can embed in their own apps, dashboards or platforms. The VetFlex app serves veterinarians, and the company also works on methane and climate calculations for herds. SimHerd sells subscriptions per herd, and offers economic analyses and custom case work. It serves customers in Denmark, Norway, Canada and elsewhere in Europe.
