It provides engineering, testing and homologation services to the automotive, defence, rail and off-highway sectors. Its test facilities include crash, climatic, EMC, vibration and battery test laboratories, a proving ground and the ASSURED CAV connected and autonomous vehicle facilities. In its defence business, the company develops the VIKING unmanned ground vehicle through its MIRA UGV division, in which IDV became majority shareholder, and offers defence vehicle electrification, EMC, certification and data analytics services. Founded in 1946 as the Motor Industry Research Association, the company was acquired by HORIBA in 2015 and operates as part of the HORIBA Group.
