A Barragem is a Portuguese non-profit foundation, recognised as an IPSS of public utility with national scope, working on mental health in general and on the prevention of addictive behaviours and treatment of dependencies in particular. It is based in Cascais and offers prevention, treatment and social reinsertion services for people with addictions and mental health needs, including therapeutic groups, a therapeutic community, residential houses, reinsertion accommodation and online psychotherapy. Its technical team includes psychologists and psychiatrists. The foundation was established in 1986 by the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Cascais, complementing public responses in the field of dependencies. It participates in local networks in Cascais, including the Rede Social do Concelho de Cascais, the Fórum Concelhio para a Promoção da Saúde and the Fórum Municipal da Luta Contra a Violência Doméstica.
