About
Founded in 1974, Afrikagrupperna is a non-governmental organisation based in Stockholm, Sweden working on human rights, international development, poverty & hunger +3 more.
Afrikagrupperna is a Swedish non-profit solidarity organisation founded in 1974 as a national federation of local solidarity groups, with roots in the anti-apartheid and liberation movements of the 1960s. It works for a fair and equal world by supporting local civil society organisations in southern Africa rather than running its own development projects. Its partner organisations are in Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe, and its work is organised around three themes: sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), food and land rights, and natural resources, business and human rights. The organisation also supports the struggle for a free Western Sahara. It is a politically independent and non-religious membership organisation, funded mainly by members, donors and legacies. Its head office is in Stockholm and its regional office is in Johannesburg. Its work includes public campaigns, membership and local groups across Sweden, and a Solidarity House in Stockholm shared with other civil society organisations.
