About
Aivotuonti is a grant-making foundation based in Finland working on medical research, science & research.
Aivotuonti (Brain Gain) is a grant programme run jointly by three Finnish foundations: Suomen Lääketieteen Säätiö, Sigrid Juséliuksen Säätiö and Jane ja Aatos Erkon säätiö. It aims to attract internationally recognised Finnish medical researchers who have worked abroad back to Finland and to strengthen research excellence in Finnish medical research. Grants of 2.5 million euros over five years cover a researcher's personal salary costs, part of the research group's salary and research costs, and are paid to the Finnish host employer. Applicants must hold a doctorate, be Finnish citizens, have carried out significant research abroad for at least four years, and have a plan for a new medical research project in Finland. Applications are made through the Finnish Medical Foundation's grant service, with the call for applications open once a year. Each application is assessed by independent experts appointed by the participating foundations. The programme is implemented in cooperation with Finnish universities.
