About
Amici delle Cicogne is a non-profit association based in Faenza, Italy working on nature & wildlife conservation, animal welfare.
Associazione Amici delle Cicogne is a volunteer association based in Faenza, Italy. It runs the Oasi delle Cicogne, a wetland oasis and stork colony at the Centro Didattico C. Gulmanelli, which hosts a resident colony of white storks (Ciconia ciconia) on nesting platforms, along with migratory storks and other wild birds. The association provides daily feeding, maintains nesting platforms, and cares for injured storks, including birds unable to fly, which are housed in ground nests. It also offers guided visits for schools, families, companies and individuals, workshops such as stork nest building for children, and presentations and photo exhibitions on request. The oasis is open year-round, with spring and summer as the main nesting season. The association's history traces to the 1950s, when Cavaliere del Lavoro Roberto Bucci started a project to establish an independent stork colony, later developed by Carlo Gulmanelli and now carried on by volunteers. The association is funded by donations from citizens, institutions and businesses, and collects the 5x1000 tax allocation.
