About

Arctic Eider Society is a non-governmental organisation based in Sanikiluaq, Canada working on science & research, environment & climate, community development.

The Arctic Eider Society (AES) is an Indigenous-led non-profit based in Sanikiluaq, Nunavut, Canada. It develops and delivers SIKU, a free web and mobile platform that gives Indigenous communities tools to lead their own research and monitoring programmes. AES states that it does not own the data users post, and that users keep ownership and control through stewardship options and data export. AES is funded through government grants, Indigenous organisations and private funders, and delivers SIKU free of charge to users. The organisation also runs the annual Goose Watch challenge with prizes for eligible harvest and observation posts in Inuit Nunangat, James Bay and Nitassinan communities.
