ASCOTID Mureș is a non-governmental, non-profit association founded in 2006 by seven parents to support children and young people with diabetes in Mureș county, Romania, and their families. Its stated aim is to promote, support and defend the interests of young people with diabetes and their families, with a humanitarian and charitable character. The association provides direct support to families, including gift packages and free glucose-monitoring supplies, organises hospital visits, medical screening campaigns in rural areas, educational events and awareness campaigns on diabetes, and sports events that encourage physical activity among people with diabetes. It also takes part in advocacy on patients' access to reimbursed diabetes devices, working with other patient groups, health authorities and national institutions. The association operates from Târgu Mureș and is led by its president, Rodica Molnar.
