BaanChivitMai Foundation
Chiang Rai, Chiang Rai, Thailand
About
Founded in 1989, BaanChivitMai Foundation is a charity based in Chiang Rai, Thailand working on children & youth, education, humanitarian aid & disaster relief.
BaanChivitMai Foundation, meaning Home for New Life, is an independent Thai relief organisation based in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand. It provides safe homes, medical care and education to at-risk children, including hill-tribe children and HIV-infected children, many of whom have lost parents or are at risk of trafficking or prostitution. The ministry began in Bangkok in 1989 and moved to Chiang Rai later, with its main campus in Hua Doi. Its charter is based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and takes a Christian perspective. The foundation is funded mainly by private donors in Sweden and Norway, supported by a registered association of donors and by profits from its bakery café in Chiang Rai. It is governed by a board with members from Thailand, Sweden and Norway, and volunteers and board members travel to Scandinavia to communicate its work.
