Balkan Documentary Center is a non-profit organisation based in Sofia, Bulgaria working on arts & culture, democracy & civil society.
Balkan Documentary Center (BDC) is a Sofia-based platform supporting the documentary film sector related to the Balkan region. It provides training, expert support and networking for filmmakers, producers, journalists and other industry professionals, connecting the Balkans with the rest of Europe. BDC runs a physical space in a historical building in central Sofia as well as a virtual network. Its main initiatives include the BDC Discoveries training programme, Docu Rough Cut Boutique, Balkan Watchers for journalists, and the Sofia DocuMental International Film Festival and Balkan Documentary Market. The organisation has operated for more than 15 years and is funded in part by Creative Europe MEDIA, the Sofia Municipality Culture Program and the Bulgarian National Film Center.
