Founded in 2012, Bankwatch România is a non-governmental organisation based in București, Romania working on environment & climate, nature & wildlife conservation, justice & legal aid.

Bankwatch România is a Romanian environmental non-governmental organisation founded in 2012 and part of the CEE Bankwatch Network. It works to reduce the environmental and social impacts of large energy projects and public financing, and to promote sustainable and fair energy transition alternatives. Its work covers coal phase-out and just transition in mining regions such as Gorj and Hunedoara (Valea Jiului), opposition to fossil gas infrastructure, scrutiny of coal mine and hydropower permits, and legal action against unlawful environmental approvals. It also publishes research, monitors public funds and engages citizens and local authorities, primarily in Romania.
