About

Founded in 2001, Bardziej Kochani is a non-profit association based in Warszawa, Poland working on disability, children & youth, employment & skills.

Bardziej Kochani is a Polish association of families and carers of people with Down syndrome, formally registered in Warsaw in July 2001. It grew out of a parents' group active since 1997 within the Warsaw branch of the Polish Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability. The association supports people with intellectual disabilities and their families through a helpline and specialist information point, rehabilitation and training flats for young adults, a club for adults with intellectual disabilities, summer camps and rehabilitation holidays, sibling workshops, and parent conferences. It also publishes books and a quarterly magazine, runs a mailorder bookshop and a podcast, and organises volunteer and student placements. Its work is based mainly in Warsaw and is available across Poland, with some programmes funded by the City of Warsaw and national and EU sources. The association holds public benefit (OPP) status, which allows Polish taxpayers to direct 1.5% of their income tax to it.
