Bungamati Foundation Nepal (BFN) is a non-governmental, non-profit social organisation founded in 2004 in Nepal by people from Nepal and the Netherlands. It works mainly in education, supporting marginalized and poor children, youth and women through sponsorships, early childhood development, and technical support to community schools. Its work has expanded to include water, sanitation and hygiene, environmental protection, relief for disasters and emergencies, and youth empowerment. BFN works with government offices, municipalities and community schools, and emphasises community-led, participatory development. It funds some of its programmes through a bed and breakfast and a bike store in Bungamati. The organisation states it is nonprofit and nonpolitical, registered with the District Administration Office, the Social Welfare Council and the Inland Revenue Office in Nepal.
